Standing 27-feet tall and weighing close to 10,000 pounds, the penguin is just about the first thing you see when you drive into Cut Bank from the east.
At a time when the sickeningly saccharine “Happy Feet” penguins are dancing their way onto DVDs and lunchboxes across America, the Cut Bank penguin seems refreshingly creepy. With its downward peering eyes and slightly malevolent grin, it looks like it’s about to pounce on the next unsuspecting passersby and crush them with its giant red feet.
