It was on this day in 1969 that a Saturn V rocket took off from Cape Canaveral. On board were three astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, Jr. and Michael Collins. The mission was called Apollo 11 and the destination was the moon.  Five days later Armstrong & Aldrin would be the first men to walk on the lunar surface, while Collins stayed in orbit above them.
