What Happened – April 20

On this day, for the past several years, people got high. A lot of people. And a lotta high.

The earliest event Wiki mentions for today is “1303 – The University of Rome La Sapienza is instituted by Pope Boniface VIII” and the most recent is “2008 – Danica Patrick wins the Indy Japan 300 becoming the first female driver in history to win an Indy car race.”

A few other things that happened include:

1836 – Wisconsin Territory is created by an act of Congress.

1914 – National Guard kill 19 men, women, and children during a coal-miner’s strike in Colorado.

1916 – The Chicago Cubs play their first game at what is now called Wrigley Field.

Some of that special birthday cake goes out to Craig Frost and George Takei
