1608 – The fort at Jamestown VA is almost completely destroyed by a fire.

1948 – A fighter plane from the Kentucky Air National Guard crashes and kills the pilot. His squadron was in pursuit of an unidentified flying object that had been observed in several states for the past two hours.

1999 – Impeachment trial against Pres Clinton begins.
