What Happened – December 25

The earliest event that Wiki says happened on this day is “0 – Jesus the messiah of the Christian faith was born” and the most recent is “2009 – Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab unsuccessfully attempts a terrorist attack against the US while on board a flight to Detroit Metro Airport Northwest Airlines Flight 253.

 

A few other things that also occurred on this day are:

1776 – George Washington leads the Continental Army across the Delaware River and attacks British mercenaries stationed in Trenton NJ.

1818 – First public performance of “Silent Night.

1868 – Pres Andrew Johnson grants unconditional pardons to all former Confederate soldiers.

2007 – A tiger escapes from her enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo. Three men (who had been seen taunting and teasing the big cat earlier) are attacked, with one killed. The tiger is shot when police arrive on the scene.
